The long expected launch event of the Padfone 2finally took place today in Taiwan and Italy. Now we finally know what this second generation Padfoen is all about.
A lot of things that we pretty much already knew got confirmed. Like the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Quad Core CPU which has a clock speed of 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP camera and the fact that it does support LTE (700/800/1800/2600MHz). It was also confirmed that the Padfone itself will have a Super IPS+ screen which has a resolution of 1280×800, it's a surprise that it supports a resistive touch screen isntead of the usual capacitive touch screen, luckely the touch screen is not a resistive screen, it is a capacative touch screen. It seems like the information on the Asus Padfone 2 page was not accurate...
Asus is getting ready for the presentation of the Padfone 2 in Taiwan and Italy at 11:00 (UTC +2). Don't forget to catch the livestream, and to join our special forum topic during the event!

A lot of news is pouring in lately. Padfone 2 announcement, possible Padfone 2 release in The Benelux, Padfone 3 information. And now we have word from Asus Malaysia about the release of Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) on our Padfones. According to them, the Jelly Bean update is scheduled to begin in late December for Taiwanese (CHT) Padfones. Asus doesn't mention a date for the World Wide release of Jelly Bean, but this will probably be somewhere in January.
We are pleased to announce that we will soon be rolling out a major software update for the ASUS PadFone, which will update it to Android™ 4.1, Jelly Bean.
The tentative FOTA update is scheduled to begin in late December in Taiwan, then subsequently worldwide.

Padfone 2 still not announced, already news about Padfone 3?
A couple days ago we got official word of the announcement of the Padfoen 2 on October 16th. Today we have information about the Padfone 3.
According to a user on our forum a Taiwanese newspaper reported that the CEO of Asus (Jerry Shen) mentioned the Padfone 3.
Usually we are very careful with posting things like this, but this time there could be a possible truth factor in this story. According to the article, Asus wants to support Windows Phone 8 with the Padfone 3(?). The Padfone 3 is currently in development. It will of course also rely on high end specifications and is expected to be released by the end of the first quarter of 2013.
