i think this is software ... just need some patch or new digitaizer driver...

good to know that this may be a software problem. am experiencing it almost daily. my belief is that there is a hardware problem, but I hope somebody will prove me wrong and a system update will fix this issue. absoluteeely love this phone.

no updates? did everyone's problem get fixed only mine didn't? phone has started to have the symptoms more often. will have to be sent to the service and i can't wait. they will charge me 60$ only for finding out what is wrong. they don't want to give me a quote on the repair stating that they cannot know what is wrong with it, but am sure i will be expecting a quote around the 200$ mark.

It's been about 3 weeks now and only had maybe 2 ocurrences where the screen did the phantom press thing briefly again. I didn't do anything to clear it as the incidents were of very short duration, so for the most part it seems like my PFI is operating normally again. If it stays like this in the future, I will be satisfied with my phone.

I'm having this problem now...
I don't know if the update caused this...or its a hardware problem.
I never had this before changing SKUs...
I need to calibrate the touch screen everytime this happens...

This is my first Asus smartphone and will be the last...

I noticed that around 1cm below the top of my screen there's a margin that responds as if i was pinching the screen when i tap it. When i press on that area on the homescreen it zooms out to the customize homescreen selection screen. This started 1 month into using the padfone infinity and I'm very sure that I've never dropped it. It irritates me alot

I did a factory reset and nothing has changed, the margin of error is still there. I'm considering taking it back to the service centre already.

I'm getting issues which I believe only happen when the phone warms up, I've taken some screenshots of a Touch Screen Test app, I was running my finger down the screen from the top as what I use a normal speed. If I do it at slow speed it seems to work.

gutted as I love the phone more than my Samsung Galaxy S4 that I sold to fund this one.

That's because I'm an idiot!!! Updated now thanks.

BTW, I was running the customer .32 version on my HK device when I was having these problems, I've now restored my backup to .29 and so far no issues.

from what i understand, you are experiencing the "phantom touches" as they are called? or you had experienced?
because i am experiencing them. have updated to latest software update, problem calmed down by 75%, but still exists.
can you please tell me more about hk 32 29, etc. dunno what you are on about.

My phone is a HK edition, the part number is A80-1A091HKG (I assuming the HK in the part number is the edition although I don't know for sure.) and as soon as I got the phone I installed Lidenburg's rom (after performing the all important nand backup)and then started to notice touch screen issues.

I restored my phone to the factory version from the nand backup and I've not had any screen issues since.

It's also interesting to note that the Asus support site has the latest ROM versions downloadable for each region (edition) phone and the versions differ per region:

V10.6.9.32 is available for the WW, RU and CUCC versions
V10.6.9.31 is available for the TW and CHT versions
V10.6.9.26 is available for the STARHUB and HK versions

I guess it's possible that the screen digitizer is slightly different versions across regions which could cause issues when we install Lidenburg's ROM.

The easiest way to find out is to see if anyone with screen issues are on the original rom that came with the phone or if they've installed another rom / version since having it.

Or if you are that way inclined then to check the driver versions across roms.

This issue started after I changed the SKUs (TW to WW)...
I didn't make a backup before that...oh well, gonna change the SKU back to TW...

Are you running the latest update for your SKU (.32)? Because I don't know if the update or the " SKU change" that is causing this issue...

I'm running the latest for my SKU which unfortunately is .26 and going back to that has resolved my screen issue

They released the HK V10.6.9.32

BTW, this issue happens everytime I open the stock Android Gallery. It keeps pressing the middle-left side of my screen.
I have a lot of photos on my phone.
