Hello,
I am having the same issue. I have tried changed the firmware and clearing cache & calibrating the touch without success.
Something I have noticed is if I use the touch very slowly it works as intented but whenever I use it fast(normal speed for me) it glitches out all over the place. This might be usefull I don't know.
Another thing I did was press the screen with alot of force and it seemed to work fine in an application to test the touch but as soon as I locked the phone I had the problem back, could barely enter my passcode.

Please tell me any of you has a fix, this is making the phone close to useless, very infuriating!
EDIT: When pressing the top part of my phone with force I heard a pop and it is working as of now although the problem reappears forcing me to pop it back. Definitively a hardware problem.

I am using Taiwan set, so far so good until 2 days ago, the Home button suddenly goes mad for a few seconds where the programs array when we long press Home button keep popping out. I press the Home button a few times and it goes away.

Since then, the Home button no longer works. Pressing on it will have no response, no vibration and the button backlit will not turn on. Back and recent buttons still ok.

Sometimes the home button has vibration feedback but no actual response.

I do factory reset, and when the first setup screen pop up after reset, i cannot press the OK button to process to next step. Have to try repeatedly. Later i found out a small portion of bottom right screen has no response. Home button still not working. Screen calibration & clear cache does not work.

Next to do is downgrade firmware. I have little confidence that will work. Before this there is no problem at all, no phantom touch etc. I just hope this is not hardware failure.

My padfone is on the way from the UK back to Hong Kong for a second time to get repaired under warranty as they completely failed to sort the problem the first time.

I have two dead areas on the touchscreen - one at the very top and one a 1/3 of the way up the screen where a large rectangular area doesn't register a touch on it but if you turn on the touch identifier on the debugging settings it shows as two separate touches - one slightly above and one slightly below. In addition to this the area sometimes gives random touches and as it is in the two busiest areas - the notification bar at the top and bang on the part of the screen you normally have to hit to confirm an action it made the phone unusable.

Fingers crossed the repair gets carried out properly this time..........

I have the same issue with touch screen - not responding. I attached an image where I tried to spot the exact dead zone of the screen. It's weird that sometimes is working, but less than 3 from 10 uses.

I talked to Asus Customer Service and they gave me a RMA number. I'll bring the phone to their service in my area to be fixed.

I have this since this saturday. Well, before I also had random touches sometimes, but it did not really bother me (locking phone and unlocking it temporarily solved the problem), but now a touch zone is not even responding.

So, any of you can please tell me how much time it takes to send it back to Taiwan, repair it, and get it back?

Because if it takes too much time, I'd rather pay for a non-warranty repair in my country...

Good morning from Greece!

I am an owner of a Padfone infinity A86 and since yesterday morning the touchscreen on my PFI unexpectedly stopped working.

The phone prompts me to restart over and over again for updating the touch screen firmware but the installation fails and nothing happens! (This happened while in firmware TW_A86-V10.12.3.111)

Have tried wiping the cache and wiping the factory data through recovery mode but with no result!

I also tried calibrating the screen but the result is always the same: Calibration Fail.....Please re-try!

I even downloaded the newest firmware (which is available only in asus downloads) TW_A86-V10.12.3.116 but same issue occurs!

I then rolled back to TW_A86-V10.12.3.94 and the screen was again working some how (it didn't rotate accordingly and it didn't open the top menu bar)

I then updated back to TW_A86-V10.12.3.111 to see if the problem persists and again the message of the touch screen firmware failure appeared.

Did anyone of you had a solution on this?

Did you get your phones back from the dealers and was it a hardware or software issue?

I can only suppose that it is a bad code in the firmware causing all this...

Thank you in advance for any replies!

Yannis

Sadly the update to 4.4.2 did not solve the problem. The charger thing works though. My phone started touching itself (that's sounds funny) only after a year of use and now it really pisses me off. Hope someone is still looking for a way to fix it.

I can see that this thread is pretty old, but I have exactly the same problem. The funny is that I have two NPI and this bug is only present on one. I have apps opening by themselves and inactive area on the bottom of the screen. Sometimes the screen works, but now most of the time, unless i press the power button a few times, the bottom area doesnt work... Has anybody found out what is wrong with that phone? Its a shame, because I really love it!

Lol… isn't it just calibration that fixed your problem ?
when do you plug in power? Before clicking OK or after?
