Great to find a good forum on the padfone. I'm JustJeff and I'm in Sweden! Yay...
I've had the old PFI (64Gb T0003 version with pad) now for 2-3 months and while impressed with the specs and anticipation due to the long waiting times for this phone to hit the market in Sweden, the honeymoon is definitely over.
I have always loved the concept of having a pad and phone integrated, and Asus hardware has always been a reliable and trusted brand in my opinion but after my experiences with the Padphone Inifinity, now the Old padfone Infinity, I can definately say it's not all it's cracked up to be for the money paid.
I hope with the padfone community I will make some inroads into fixing/modding or adding to my padfone so I will be at least happier with the product.
The Asus Echo "Cannot heard you" is ridiculous. My old nokia 6110 did a better job with vioce dialing. Anyone with a better program, app or work around for this program to change the voice, please help!
Sorry here comes a bit of a rant. Don't read if you love your Padfone.
Unfortunately my experience with this product has been so-so. As a phone it works, most of the time, so did my apple iphone 3g I found at the local tip... Surfing the net is smooth and fast! Probably the best feature of the phone is it's surfability. That and being able to read PDFs on the larger screen.
I have had the occasional sound glitch drop-outs which were not signal related as the other person talking to me could hear me.
The wifi signal strength is poor. This is the worst wifi device I have owned for signal strength.
The Asus sync software will not recognize the phone while in the pad. WTF? I understand the pad will not charge from the laptop as it will not supply 2w through the USB port as it only delivers 500mA. I can highly recommend the Scosche ReVolt Pro C2 adapter to get the job done in car for both pad and phone. Thank goodness it does charge the phone via the USB and the Asus sync was recognised this way as well. But what it the point of the pad if it will not integrate with the Asus sync? I have not checked if there are bluetooth or wifi connectivity for the Asus sync yet. Fingers crossed.
I didn't know a flagship device, well flagship at the time of purchase, could have such poor practical features with regard to voice recognition software, but I guess that's most of the android products at the moment. S-voice probably leads the way in that field. At least Asus could integrate a few lines of voice recognition that can turn on the Wifi or mobile data, not just a wifi hotspot feature or bluetooth.
What are your thoughts on all this? Or have I missed a few vital settings to turn on to improve my expreience?
