after checking my photos i did,t find any problems like the ones you have described .... i use 4.0.4 as well

This isn't good, as always... We cannot understand why some people have this issue and some others doesn't... I just hope it isn't a focal issue, because maybe the old cam firm used the optics in a slightly different way, so they didn't notice that there was a hardware problem... there's only one sure thing: an entire stock of Padfones, or maybe all those with the camera made from the same factory, have this issue.
However, in the upper photos, from the second, the issue is visible and it is more visible when you take a photo with 50% zoom, so if you all want to have a final proof... (actually, I didn't notice the issue till i took the "seaside" pic, but it could be a light problem; then I took the "two cats playing" photo and it was too evident, so I started to take ad hoc pics to find out the problem)

I still have some hope that in the final 4.1.1 release they will fix the camera problem [...] the camera firmware version was still the f09968.

Ah, ok, it was the same firmware, they just changed the layout... I tought they'd use a new base to improve the camera management (you know, that feature about the camera which doesn't really close while watching taken shots...)

Hi, did any of u ever find a fix, i recntly noticed the same problem,i havnt contacte asus yet sice when i innitially bought the padfone2 they told me there will be no warrenty issues and that it depends on my local policies, but the phone was purchased in HK (as they knew it woud!!!) And hk has onlu hk warrenty applied to it.

Nevertheless i guess the camera problem is software dependnt.

I run 4.1.1 and camera firmware 5013.

UPDATE!

i sent the phone to HK to fix this and a broken screen, they claim to replace the camera but the issue persists.
this means that the problem is definitely firmware,
the question is if it worth the wait for the next FW or just go for a root and custom FW?
