I got the same problem here. Today i noticed that the lens cover is somehow loose. I mean you can slightly move the glass inside the metal frame of the lens cover. Is this normal or should the glass be fixed with the metal frame?

And Cognicom, can you verify that these 3.5mm jack dust caps really help?

Thanks!

I can't really verify it, as I didn't have any dust issues to start with.

I can only confirm that I still have no dust inside the lens cover after having the plug inserted for a couple of weeks, but whether this is just a matter of luck or if it's genuinely where the dust would have been coming from, I don't know.

Still, at not much more than $1, it's good insurance. I see there's now a seller offering two sets for $1.50 or five sets for $2.35.

The MicroUSB plug is obviously useless on the PadFone2, but you might be able to put it to use on a different device.

My padfone 2 has this problem too.

It may be one of the sources for the dust to get into the camera.

Interesting!

After I saw that, I had a prod at my own PF2 and found the lens cover was just as flimsy as in the video; it can be deformed and rotated.

That doesn't explain why I have no dust in mine, with the only speculation being that others carry their 'phones in their pockets and I always carry mine in a belt holster.

In theory then, if this is indeed the source of the problem, one could remove the back cover and apply glue or sealant around the perimeter of the cover to solve the problem permanently.

One slight problem though... Those who've disassembled their 'phones have said that the dust is actually inside the lens assembly and not between the lens and the plastic cover - so perhaps this isn't the cause after all?

This issue is really a pity for such a product!!!
As i bought it on ebay, i can't send it to fix these problems.
Otherwise i did it!

The front camera can't be used, too much dust,
Oddly, rear camera have dust, but nothing appears on picture?!

The worst mobile phone i have bought, volume down button defect, dust on lens, padfone screen scratched by the dock system and a lot of noise and gap in backcover, to sad when we pay 800€ for a piece of defects.

And the biggest problem is the future, i don´t believe asus can solve all this problems forever, i´m gonna try have my money back.

And now to be worst, asus release pad infinity to cover all defects in padfone 2.

My lens, after some mountain bike rides and several running courses is definitely no more usable.
Yesterday I took a picture and the pic was light yellow coloured due to the fine dust inside.......
Very very bad

I have the same problem, i just got my phone for less than 3 months but the lens was so full of dust that i can barely take photo.

The other problem I have is so far it's so hard to get accessories, I finally got a leather cover from China TaoBao, can't find a single being sold in Hong Kong. Bad.

Other than that, everything works fine with the phone.

I probably won't buy anymore Asus phone but stick back to my Samsung in the future...

Also found this here, may be useful, will try myself later...

Here in Sweden Asus gladly fixes the problem for free, though it needs to be sent to a service center which takes five days.
