Ever since I got my PadFone 2 a couple of weeks ago, I've been trying to download Angry Birds Star Wars from the Play store, but with no success - whether I initiate the download from my computer via the Play store, or try to download it directly using Google Play on the 'phone, it returns a 404 (page not found) error as soon as it starts trying to download.
I know there isn't a problem with the app itself on Play, as I've just downloaded it to two other 'phones with no problems.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Not that it's of great concern; I can certainly live without this game, but my worry is about the PadFone 2 being in some way incompatible with some applications, to the point that even Google Play doesn't recognise this incompatibility; it simply tries to download it.
Have you tried changing the DNS settings of your connection? Try OpenDNS or Google DNS...
Thanks for the suggestion, but it wasn't DNS.
I run a secure network here with two separate external network connections; the default connection is heavily filtered (Korea/China/Russia/Ukraine/AWS/SoftLayer and several other known-malicious networks are completely blocked), whereas the secondary connection is almost entirely open (for outbound connections).
I simply forgot to create the necessary default gateway entry for the PadFone2 on the DHCP server, to point it to the secondary connection. Now that I've changed it, it downloads fine.
Obviously then, Rovio is using a server in "hostile space" to host its Angry Birds Star Wars download.
