I guess ASUS wanted to have the best specs in the smartphone market. So congrats, they did it... but most important question is - will PF become more popular? I really dont think so, because it is not only about specs but also reasonability.
First of all, I dont understand where they are running, releasing products one after another, basicly killing themselves. Moreover, by cutting (promised) support on previous devices, they make customers feel a bit fooled, so they dont earn respect in long term. Actually, I think more logical way of product release is to go from premium to midclass not vise-versa. PF was big expeiment, maybe that is why they chose to do it that way...
Secondly, of course specs are very high-end, but one should also question why on earth you need FHD resolution on 5" phones display? Imo even for 10" tablet it is overkill. Besides it is !Android! So you can do what - internet, emails, pictures, videos, android apps and games... no application really making benefit of it.
Apperently, there is also a problem in the concept. It seems to me that ASUS just makes another PF but have no idea who will buy it and why... I mean in this video - a veterinar saying "It also keeps my dog entertained!" DAFUQ? Is it meant for dogs, not for humans? Comon guys, device will cost 1000 EUR, probably only buisnesmen or enthusiasts will buy it - not for their animals, but for being productive. Also since there is no Station Dock that generally means it is a phone and a big toy, nothing more... only if you add a bluetooth keyboard.
So despite I love my PF1 and like ASUS concept and quality of mobile products - I doubt if PF Infinity will be a hit. As I mentioned in comments, I would rather spend that money on VivoTab Smart + 4" smartphone. Sorry, PF...
No keyboard ... ugly design ... nothing impressive. I loved the ZenDesign so much and the unibody, it was pretty original, not like every other smartphone!
Also the 5 inch display is too big for me... I like the PadFone2 screen more...
I bet you wouldn't be able to see a diference between the PadFone 2 and the PadFone Infinity display in terms of resolution, because I hope you all know that the human eye can see only 250 DPI. Unless you stick it like right infront of your face, which in a everyday scenario will never happen.
999 EURO ... Seriously? ... I hope it has a 3 times better build quality for that price. We'll see when somebody purchase it.
I hope they don't make a single sale, so their marketing team will mobilize a little bit!
In conclusion, Asus has given a step back with this terminal. More bulky, ugly and expensive and does nothing compared to PF2. I just hope they do not stop supporting users of PF1 and 2 and see 4.2 update for our devices

Very much agree, competing on specs is like competing on price, you'll always be outrun by the competition. It's why I think their marketing and product strategy is awful. The reason anyone would be interested in the Padfone at all would be its unique form factor. They definitely ought to invest more in market research as well as customer service, two differentiating points that can possibly make them win customers from the big guys (Samsung, Apple and possibly HTC).
Anyway, Asus just seems to love pissing off early adopters (at least in Hong Kong). First the Padfone 1 release/announcement that never happened despite huge interest in the product. Then the Padfone 2's delays in availability during Xmas period (the time when it really mattered to have it on time) escalated by frustrations that no retailer or staff knows when they'll actually hit stores. Many have pre-ordered as soon it was announced (a month or two in advance) and were promised they'll have the goods in their hands DEFINITELY before Xmas (did not happen). Next is their marketing strategy to lull more buyers by giving away to new converts the official PF2 sleeves as a Chinese New Year promotion. Loyal fans felt offended and insulted by this move, many felt 'punished' for buying early.
I guess with the Padfone Infinity (other than those who hate the 5" size or the new design) it's a slap across the face for PF2 owners who just bought a device only to have it outmoded so soon.
As a PF1 owner and having bought two PF2s for my parents, I think I have this love-hate relationship with Asus. Love their innovation and good quality devices but hate nearly everything else.
