They should really work together with Asus to get this to the Padfone!

ASUS PadFone 4(?) with Ubuntu 14.04 in 2014Q2 would be kind of a dream come true. 13.10 should be first with stable phone interface and 14.04 first with stable tablet interface.

I asked Jono Bacon (Cononical Community Manager) about PF series especially that what is looks like on the video, he said he had a look at PF, but nobody id doing anything about it. PF2 has the same hardware as Nexus 4 so you could run it on it right now.

Hardware is one thing, the drivers are more important I think.

They use CyanogenMod 10 to run this atm, if you manage to get CM10 working on PF this will work just as well.

What I had in mind with previous post is that they don't have do stuff for PF and are not aiming on it.
