The Padfone 2 seems to be very good device. In review people are satisfied and do not complain. But in this forum, sectin "help" I have read about lot of problems... I´m afraid of complaint. How many complaint did you have. Shuld I buy Padfone 2? My point is only quality.
PF2 has really outstanding performances. Apart HW problems, most of problems here around I believe are due to not proper use of the phone (crashed updates, wrong configurations, wrong care). Main problem is that Asus is not well organized to offer a fast swap/repair service worldwide, therefore in case you are one of physiologycal 3% owners with a faulty unit in hands, you risk to stay one month or more without the phone.
I think my first Padfone 2 was one of their first batches and got a lot of issues and other strange things going on: faulty battery, stains on the tablet screen that couldn't go off, cracking sound if you squeezed the phone, random reboots, volume of the tablet that was way too loud,...
I finally sent it of for repairs (still not back after >1month lol, but they're 'working' on it).
I loved the Padfone 2 so much thought, that I bought myself a second set (the white version). This is clearly from a recent batch as none of the above described issues have occured. I've just checked and my phone has been up and running since more than 550 hours straight without rebooting. Can't think I could do that with my old phone which I had to reboot every once in a while because it was acting weird.
I think it is still a very good piece of gear. The GPS on mine is inferior to the HTC one X we own, but otherwise it is great. The prices through Kogan (Australian supplier) are very competitive. I would buy one now, had I not been an early adopter.
*Update* As time goes on the build quality, or rather lack of it, is really starting to show. Dust behind camera, audio jack never worked properly, scratches on phone screen, and now the phone speaker is starting to go out on me.The latter sounds loose and distorted. I have actually switched back to my HTC One X and am using the PF2 as a tablet only for now. It should be noted that I handle my mobiles with care ... they never get tossed in briefcases etc. It is simply down to crappy build quality, and I never had these issues with older phones.
Depending on your usage and sharing option. if you are using this device alone and doesn't need the option to share one "tablet" with others, padfone 2 is definately the best device to have both smartphone and tablets world into one hand~!!!
I must say that I haven't had any real isseus woth my device. I mus say that I had doubts when seeying some problems but chose it any way and I am still happy with buying it and would sure buy it again.
If at the times I bought it, I already had the experience with my actual unit... Hell no I wouldn't buy it. The issue is, I'm thinking about changing to a proper tablet and phone... Just the practicality of the phone becoming a tablet with one sim/data is impossible to let go.
The device is riddled with issues, but somehow I can't let it go.
