If I am on another SKU (eg. TW, CN, etc) would it be safer to flash the original WWE before flshing this ROM?

I recommend you do a SKU change and THEN flash this ROM yes, I recommend you change SKU version by following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38623552#post38623552

I have heard many people have succes using this method

I'm in a serious need of help from you guys.

I'm stuck when I'm about to install this custom package. So how'd i gotten this far.

I've unlocked the boot loader, rooted, installed custom recovery (clockwork).

i had busybox installed. i wiped cache in clockwork and then tried to install the package from root. always getting the installation aborted error

next test. Wipe data/factory reset. connect to pc and without even selecting language uploaded the installation zip to root folder and rebooted to clockwork and then tried. again aborted. tried once more wiping the cache, but same results.

what do?

Try md5 check of the file. Perhaps your download was corrupted

The MD5 sum is only of use if you have the MD5 of the original file to compare it to (its purpose is to see if the copy of the file you have is an exact copy of the original one posted).

Send a PM to Lindenburg and ask for the MD5 of the original - or preferably get him to add it to his original post so the rest of us have something to compare to also if we get stuck.

lindenburg is currently helping me to resolve this problem. i'll post everything that could be helping to solve this case.

as far as i know i cant even reflash the stock fw downloaded from asus side now.

both flashes hang at the verifying process i think. there is a high possibility that this is a pebcak

It's possible that there's a problem at your end, but it's also possible that you have one of the 'phones with bad eMMC which Asus has admitted to - hopefully not though, for your sake!

It turned out that Pafis didn't succesfully flash CWM and was actually using the stock recovery, which was why he couldn't flash this.

Well that'll do it every time!

Thanks for the update; always good when something potentially devastating is tracked back down to a simple error.

And no, I'm not laughing at Pafis - when I first started playing around with rooting and flashing custom recoveries and ROMs, I made far, far worse mistakes.

This is why i cant have nice things. Also this is why root isn't given on straight ahead

okay so now i'm in cwm and flashed the custom fw from download link. install from sdcard complete.

device booted. android is updating. so far so good. After the boot i get error: com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly

gonna try something then i quess

solution for my problem:
Lidenburg wrote ...

Well now I know why you had problems installing the ROM

You have the stock recovery installed and that's why you haven't been able to install my ROM.
You need to download a root browser(or use adb)and go to system/etc and delete the file named "install-recovery-sh" and then you should be able to flash CWM

praised be you guys! it's working after i reflashed it. i can safely say that any android user is able to do this since i made it!
