4.3 release for Padfone 2 again postponed, now to an uncertain "expected" time of q1 2014 - that means the end of march or 5 months from now - at best !!
That is simply just not acceptable Asus. In 5 months my device will be long gone and replaced by something else, its allready a year old.
Besides my Padfone 2 I own:
a HTC One, which is allready updated by HTC to 4.3 a Nexus 4 which is allready updated by Google to 4.3 a Nexus 7 which is allready updated by Google to 4.3 these three will all soon get 4.4 kitkat - before my Padfone 2 will even get 4.2 (which I know they skipped to be able to deliver 4.3 quickly.....or that was before they ran from that promise and postponed the 4.3 release further)
I can say that my Padfone 2 is nolonger being used, and is now up for sale - and it will be my last time buying an Asus product, not that it hasnt been a good product because it has, but the update policy from Asus are just to poor compared to many others, including both Google themselves, HTC, Samsung (who is also releasing 4.3 for their S4, S3 and S2 device), Sony and others.
A manufacturer that dont support their "older" models like Asus apparently dont do with the Padfone 1, and dont live up to their previous promisses of support for current model Padfone 2 - only because they are now focusing on their latest moneycalf - is not a manufacturer I want to support with my money.
In the future I will only buy products where I can trust continued firmware support and updates. If that then mean I can only buy Nexus products, then so be it - they work beautifully anyways. My Nexus 4 which is based on the same Snapdragon chipset as the Padfone allways performed better than my Padfone anyways. Alot better touchresponse and generally snappier performance.
Sorry Asus, but this is one customer you drowe away.

Totally agree with this post. I was criticised for complaining too early about the lack of support from Asus, but now my comments were justified.
The Padfone is a top end product, but investors in it get meagre support from Asus, whether in firmware updates or when the product proves to be faulty.
I love the concept, but will never buy another Asus product.
Hi Martin, We currently do not have an estimated time on when/if the Padfone 2 will receive its next Android update. Thanks, -Rick @ASUS
Hi Martin, I understand your frustration as an owner of Padfone 2 myself. Since Google releases new versions of its software frequently, it's difficult to have one version released before they come up with a newer version (4.3 to 4.4), so that can sometimes set back testing cycles. I'm still hopeful for a release, or barring that, they release the bootloader! Thanks, -Rick @ASUS
Asus has now confirmed that PFI and New PFI are going directly to 4.4 kitkat. To be released Q1 and Q2 2014 depending on your region.
To me this confirms what others here have said, there is little difference between android 4.3 and 4.4, and so asus will go directly to 4.4.
However, no mention of Padfone 2 in the news release. You would think asus would mention the padfone 2 if they had any intention on updating to 4.4 eventually, even if they do not have a date yet.
I sincerely doubt we will ever see anything above 4.1.1 on padfone 2. Which is a shame since i really like the phone. Mine has not had any of the problems like dust under camera lens or creaking of the back cover. I really love the phone and will keep it until it breaks or i feel its worth to shell out enough cash for a new phone.
If there are no further updates as i suspect it will be the last asus product i buy. I cant justify spending that kind of money for products that, if you are unlucky to buy the wrong model, asus will stop updating and supporting after a few months.
