To activate MHL Output you need a specific adapter, not a "simple" Micro USB to HDMI cable. You can buy ASUS MHL adapter online and there is a specifc post somewhere....

Up to now, no sign around the world indicating different HW for different regions.
But a 100% reliable answer can be given only from ASUS. Try to ask directly to MarshallR which is an ASUS "insider"......
