The last firmware I installed introduced some spontaneous rebooting. At least I hope that's what is causing it. Maybe this will be better. But what about rooting? I haven't done it yet but want to. Would it be easier to root first?

This is my wifi after update and factory reset. It was like this before warranty repair and after that. http://youtu.be/HLFTKZPxXE0?hd=1 Was there screen saver berfore?
I have not upgraded yet and I have no screensaver. I can't imagine what the point is...
My wifi does that sometimes. Usually only when I am in the kitchen and the signal is a bit weaker. In the lounge wifi signal is full strength and fine. I think it is also affected by whether I am using N or G wifi, and whether I have both N and G routers switched on. Since switching off the N router my wifi has improved.
The point is, try changing stuff with your wifi. Try buying a wifi router of a different brand. Interoperability of wifi can be quite hit and miss. Every so often you get a pair of devices that just do not get on well together.
Of course, if you see the same problem on lots of different wifi routers, forget all that.
