I would not buy a PadFone and a Transformer, because those are overlapping products with or without keyboard dock. If I couldn't get a keyboard dock to PadFone, I'd get a laptop.
padfone with/without a keyboard dock still not a device i would compare to a laptop nor a netbook~~~ I wouldn't need a keyboard dock at all, but my guess is there a considerable sized of people wanted that feature cuz it is simply a continues development from the transformer series and its only make sense by doing so~~~
to me, padfone is a phone + tablet, keyboard is addition nice touch for it, stylus is simply making us all look futuristically funny.
For me the full deal of PadFone with the keyboard dock has replaced about 98% of my personal computing needs, which is more than enough for us to manage with just one proper computer in the family. Without the keyboard dock that would go so much lower that I'd still need a personal laptop.
Stylus is one of the best features. It makes people smile Everyone at work keeps asking me to talk to the pen and my son wants to use it all the time

Same here. Since I got the whole package, my desktop has just sat there. I can do almost everything on the padfone and than when u are done, pull out the phone and all my data is always with me. No need to transfer, copy, post to cloud etc. Now if only asus will launch their monitor dock, my techno zen garden life will be complete………
My 2 girls love the stylus. They love doodling on the station and do coloring stuff. Only other phone to come close is the note. I have that too but it just doesn't fit in to the techno life as I still need my desktop and the data still has to be copied etc.

sound like a fun experience for the kids & colleague with the stylus. with more and more people adapting to the stylus idea, it will eventually become common I guess. I'm working as a video editor, current padfone/padfone2 will not be able to accommodate my computing usage for sure. Glad to hear that padfone with dock & kb can sort of replace the netbook/laptop for some of you but my guess is its really depends how the device can help with our current usage of computing power~~~
I asked my seller in Taiwan if they knew more (about a release date and pricing), the only thing they could tell is is that the Padfone 2 will be presented in Taiwan tomorrow (I know, we know, and I pretty much told them in my e-mail )...
One day... One day and we finally know what we want to know?
From what I can see, there is backlight in the black areas, so it must be Super IPS. There are also not onscreen buttons. And it does not show much of the connectors on the bottom.
WOW, U WORK AS A VIDEO EDITOR? HOW COOL IS THAT! I WORK AS A VIDEO EDITOR / IT SUPPORT TOO! IMAGINE THE COINCIDENCE! WOW!
the Padfone combo can be really useful in terms of our work. The client/producer emails me the script, I can annotate it the phone while on the go, send it back for comments and feedback, plug into my KB combo, cross reference while I edit, send for comments and receive thru whatsapp, edit finish, make a small size mp4 in my editing machine, Bluetooth to my phone than whatsapp video to client. Get immediate response from client, make changes, resend sample mp4, get approval and deliver final product. My producer/clients/director are always amazed how I can do all that esp thru mobile phone, and my clients can view it anywhere anytime. I'm sure all the other smart phones can do all that, but the Padfone package makes it just a little bit more seamless. (And I do own an iPad, iPhone, galaxy note and laptop! Just that after the arrival of the padfone , the rest have been seconded to the wife and kids )

Looks like he just pulled it out. (The third video showing dynamic display) Friction based? Hhhhhhmmmmmmm wonder how many insert and extract it's rated for? The fourth video with the guy doing the demo sounds like he was explaining how the phone stays in the station, not really good in mandarin, anyone out there care to translate?

Yeah it seems so. Anyway it's not an issue since in December we'll get JB on PF1. Have you noticed yuou can't open the PF2. This is how I got to the idea: in the video you see a drawer on the top with a hole in it, on the right of the 3,5 mm headphone jack similar to the iphone sim drawer. What this tells me is two things: no user replaceable battery and no sd card. There is no other reason to put the sim card drawer outside unless you want to eliminate the two options (battery and sd card).

Don't care for the non-replacable battery. Only thing that's annoying is the fact that there is no SD card.
So I'm still sticking to my Padfone 1 (although the pad of the PF2 looks thinner).
I wonder how the sound balance is. I only see one speaker on the pad. The pad of the PF1 also has one speaker, but it's located almost in the middle, but the speaker of the PF2 is located on the far left.

It seems strange to have no SD card considering this can essentially be a laptop replacement. I'm hoping it has at least 32 GB of storage if true.
